About Dr Smeds


Dr. Smeds offers effective outpatient, individualized, psychological care. Her decades of experience and training enable her to provide a wide range of therapies for mental health needs, and provides a neutral ground to individuals, families, children, adolescents and couples.  

As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, licensed in the state of Florida since 2003, Dr. Smeds received her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University in Santa Barbara, CA (1994) and her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno, CA (1998). She has been practicing in the field for nearly 24 years in a variety of settings, from State Hospital to private practice.

The philosophy of care is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic, Existential, and Positive Psychology philosophies.

The practice offers goal-focused, solution-based therapy in a collaborative process to create a space where patients can equip themselves for success.

Depression & Anxiety

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through therapy and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life. Specializations include Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Panic Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Postpartum Depression.


Trauma & PTSD

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. As an experienced psychologist, Dr. can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing. 



Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with couples and is a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.     


Parents can be  overwhelmed by the issues their children face and the impact that brings to family life.  Whether facing frightening changes like cutting and depression, or the challenges of social media and oppositional behavior, Dr. Smeds can work to bring your family together to heal and grow in a neutral space.

Group Therapy

Dr. Smeds is committed to  quality therapy for everyone regardless of resources.  Group Therapy is an effective option for those with limited financial resources, and is offered on a seat-limited basis every other Thursday.  Please contact the office to inquire about availability and make a reservation.
